V-League 亞 Quarter Application for 中·Iran Province

The Asian quarter, which was introduced from the 2023-2024 season of the professional volleyball V League, will be expanded from next season amid the assessment that it is a "half success." Salary has risen slightly, and the number of countries eligible for the Asian quarter has also expanded from the previous 10 to 64.

The tryout, a competitive stage for Asian quarter players who will play on the V-League court in the 2024-2025 season, will be held in Jeju Island next week. The women's team will be held at Halla Gymnasium and Sun Hotel on Jeju Island from the 29th to May 1st, and the men's tryout will continue until the 3rd.

In the women's team, six players including Megawatti Puttywi (Indonesia), who played as the ace for Jeonggwanjang last season, applied for a tryout. Only Raina Tokoku (Japan), who played for Heungkuk Life Insurance, left the team. In addition to KEPCO's Ryohei (Japan) and OK Financial Group's middle blocker Bayarsai Batsu, five players including Jagalchut Enghärden (registered name Eddie, Mongolia), Liu Hongmin and Tsai Pei-chang (Taiwan) will try for the second year of the V League. The 30 players who newly applied will wait to be selected for the V League.

Men's volleyball has new applicants from Iran, a powerhouse in the Middle East, as well as China and Australia, drawing attention. In women's volleyball, Chinese players, a strong Asian team, are drawing attention.

Men's volleyball, which was evaluated as not having much power last season, seems to expect that "there are many good players by expanding the target country." Amid a large number of applications by Iranian players, outside heater Deng Xinfeng (China) and Amirhasan Fahadi (Iran), who are more than 2 meters tall, are receiving good scores in the preliminary evaluation. On top of that, Iranian players such as Apogit spiker Saeed Ranjiva, RF Moradi and Ali Tabari are expected to be strong. An official from a club said, "The Middle East players are in good shape, but we will have to consider their personality and religious tendencies well." Some predict that Woori Card, which signed Mauricio Paes, who went through the Iranian national team as the new head coach, will have an advantage.

On the other hand, women's volleyball players feel that there is not much difference from last year. However, Chinese players have attractive physical conditions. In the preliminary preference survey, Zhang Yu, a 196 centimeter-tall Chinese middle blocker, received overwhelming support.

The women's volleyball team, which enjoyed the strengthening effect of its power, raised the annual salary of the women's players selected for the tryout to $120,000 in the first year and $150,000 in the second year. The men's team slightly increased its second year to $120,000 while maintaining its first year's annual salary of $100,000.
